Position Summary

The Construction Administration Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely responses to construction-related correspondence and documentation through the construction administration phase services.

Essential Functions

  • Set up and/or support construction administration for new projects, to include various logs (submittal, RFI, CDCN, bulletin drawing, owner’s directive, change proposal), project directory, and filing system (binders and submittals).
  • Assist project managers with RFI responses, submittal review responses, contractor correspondence and AIA documents related to construction administration services.
  • Update project documentation and report on progress, obstacles, and timelines.
  • Produce record drawings when required at closeout.
  • Provide drafting of details or revisions to contract documents using CAD software (AutoCAD / REVIT) in response to RFI’s, submittals or contractor questions.
  • Provide mentoring to architectural staff.

Required Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five or more years of experience, preferably in architecture, engineering or construction firm
  • CDT Certification desired
  • Working knowledge of construction documents (plans and specifications)
  • Basic knowledge of common construction products and systems.

Supervisor Responsibility:
This position has no supervisor responsibility, but may with growth of the company.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, with an expectation of 40 hours per week.

Work Environment:
This job generally operates in a professional office environment.  The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers.  The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of conditions at construction sites.  The noise level in the work environment may be moderately loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

Occasionally the employee is required to walk, stand, and lift or move objects up to 10 pounds.  Some filing is required.  This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

The employee will also conduct site visits to buildings under construction.  In the early stages of construction, these sites will not have sidewalks or roads in place and will require navigating across irregular or muddy surfaces.  Hazardous areas on construction sites to avoid will be identified by the General Contractor.  The Contractor will outline minimum required safety measures while on site; however, JDavis safety protocols may exceed those established by the Contractor.  In some cases, climbing up ladders will be required to access parts of the site or building where stairs and elevators have not yet been installed.

Travel is primarily local during the business day.  Some overnight travel to sites may be required.
