The owner of 18 Seaboard wanted the experience of dining at his restaurant to be remembered as a journey. An experience that surpasses the patron’s expectations. The most highly ranked objectives were “Warm”, “Inviting” and “Comfortable”… Followed by “Casual” and Unique”. The concept of the space was really derived from the action of a walking journey through the space. Knowing from the onset that the front door would be in the back of the space, JDavis decided to place the bar here. Most patrons who are waiting for a table will be encouraged to sit at the bar/lounge area. Once the table is ready, the host will escort the guests through the walking journey of the space… the Resin Ceiling Panels above represent “stepping stones”… they guide guests through a narrowed corridor, past the Private Dining Room, and into an open Main Dining Hall. The “journey” plays on the experience of spatial envelopes; Larger, more voluminous spaces that narrow into smaller areas, then open up again to emphasize the varied spaces within 18 Seaboard.

The renovation and building addition of this 8600 SF restaurant resulted in a complete makeover of a 1980’s structure that now provides Raleigh with an up-scale, contemporary steakhouse experience which is unique to the region. The Design Team worked closely with the Client as well as the Contractor to develop a facility that serves the needs of multiple functions. From high-end dining to receptions and weddings, the new facility is well suited to meet the needs of various celebratory events.

Hi5 is located in the Glenwood South corridor of downtown Raleigh. Taking the traditional sports bar setting a step further, Hi5 features 10 flat screen televisions, comfortable couches, private dining alcoves, and plentiful bar seating while keeping the overall aesthetic feeling rich and warm. Dining niches allow guests to retreat and enjoy the upscale menu and quiet conversation.

The relocation of a well-established Raleigh restaurant called for the remodel of an existing 7000 square foot restaurant that would reflect the Client's desire to provide a comfortable, upscale atmosphere. Working with interior components already available, the JDavis design team remodeled the public dining and bar areas to create a brighter, more contemporary atmosphere. An existing lounge area adjacent to the bar was remodeled into the restaurant's signature Oyster Bar with focal design elements such as a granite bartop and unique back bar shelving and lighting.

O2 Fitness is designed as an innovative and exciting health club for the health-conscious professional. For the company's 12,300 square foot Wilmington location, an aquatic concept, based loosely on the club's beach-front community, developed a thought-provoking,dynamic series of spaces. From the curvilinear, opaque "aquarium wall" which shrouds the aerobics room, to the "Jelly Fish" lights that change color throughout the day above the cardiovascular equipment, the club provides a unique atmosphere in which to escape the everyday world around it. O2 Fitness in Wilmington is one of the several O2 Clubs designed by JDA.
