JDavis has an award winning reputation for creating liveable houses and neighborhoods that reflect the character and history of the communities in which they are located. We are skilled in the design of single family attached and detached housing that balances the challenges of density and marketability with the unique qualities of a site.

Capitol Park is a mixed use neighborhood adjacent to both Peace College and the NC State Government Complex. It represents a $30 million Hope VI Grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The grant funded the demolition of Halifax Court, a Public Housing Project built in 1947, and the construction of a New Urbanist Development that mirrors the fabric of the contiguous Pilot Mill and Mordecai neighborhoods. JDavis Architects provided both architecture, landscape architecture, and planning for the entirety of Capitol Park.

This 60-unit townhome community uses the form and massing of the carriage house to integrate the garages into entrance courtyards for each unit. Each building is comprised of three to four townhomes designed to fit the lifestyles of active adults.

The Futrell Residence is the terminus of a narrow, half-mile long peninsula of land that extends into Roanoke Sound. The house was designed to take advantage of the 180-degree views and to reflect both the nautical and historic character of the region. A four-story "lighthouse" tower forms the generative element for the house and provides a strong visual focus for boats on the Sound.

Summit Park represents the premier residential component in Meadowmont, a 600 acre Traditional Neighborhood Development in Chapel Hill. Sixty 2,500 - 3,500 SF townhomes are organized along a linear ridge with spectacular views of downtown Chapel Hill. The townhomes "front" a common park area, and garages are accessed from the rear by alleys.

These luxury villas are located on a bluff 70 feet above the James River near Williamsburg, Virginia. Large townhome units with private autocourts are joined in no more than two units and are clustered linearly along the bluff which provides magnificent elevated views across the wide waters.
